A 6-day Tibet trip for a foreign passport holder means sleeping all six nights in Lhasa — the only realistic base — and using day trips to the surrounding valleys. You cannot freelance into Tibet: a Tibet Travel Permit, arranged through a registered agency that also books your licensed hotel, is mandatory, and your permit name must match your passport exactly.
A foreign passport holder’s 5-day Sanya plan is best across two or three bays: two nights on Sanya Bay (near the city and the night market), two on Yalong Bay (the classic resort beach), and one on Haitang Bay (the luxury and Atlantis strip). All three have licensed beachfront hotels that register foreigners; the difference is price, crowd, and how far you are from town.
For a foreign passport holder, the 5-day Guilin–Yangshuo route works best as two bases: two nights in Guilin city (near the Li River or the pedestrian streets) and three nights in Yangshuo (near West Street or along the Yulong River). A licensed hotel in each registers you normally; the transfer between them is a short bus or boat ride.
A foreign passport holder’s 4-day Xiamen plan is best as one base on the island’s Siming district — near Zhongshan Road, the Gulangyu ferry, and Xiamen University — plus a possible night on Gulangyu itself if you want the car-free island. Licensed hotels cluster on the mainland side and register foreigners smoothly; the island inns vary, so confirm the licence.
For a foreign passport holder, the 4-day Nanjing plan is to sleep all four nights in one central base — Xuanwu (by Purple Mountain and the lake) or Qinhuai (by the Confucius Temple and the old city wall). Both districts sit on the Metro and host licensed hotels that register foreigners without fuss, so you check in once and ride the lines to the rest.
For a foreign passport holder, the smart 4-day Beijing plan is to sleep all four nights in Dongcheng or Xicheng — the core inside the 2nd Ring Road — within easy Metro reach of the Forbidden City, the lakes, and the Hutongs. Licensed hotels here register foreigners routinely; relocate only if you add a Great Wall overnight.
A foreign passport holder’s 3-day Wuhan plan is to sleep all three nights in Hankou — the riverside district with the old foreign concessions, the food streets, and the most licensed hotels. Wuhan is three towns joined by bridges and a big Metro; Hankou keeps you central, walkable to the Yangtze, and registered cleanly with one check-in.
Where should a foreign passport holder sleep during a 3-day Shanghai trip? Base all three nights in central Huangpu (the Bund–People’s Square corridor) or in Pudong’s Lujiazui if you want skyline views. Both districts sit on Metro lines and host licensed international hotels that register foreign guests without fuss.
For a foreign passport holder, the smart 3-day Chongqing plan is to sleep all three nights on the Yuzhong peninsula — the central district between the two rivers where the hotspots, the Metro, and the foreigner-licensed hotels all sit. You check in once, register once, and ride the light rail to everything else.
A foreign passport holder’s two-week China honeymoon is best as five romantic bases: three nights in Beijing, two in Xi’an, three in Shanghai, three in Yangshuo, and three on Sanya’s beach. Each base has licensed hotels with proper double suites and registers foreigners cleanly — book the honeymoon suites and the beachfront room in advance, and confirm the foreigner policy in writing.
