The best place to stay near the Great Wall at Mutianyu for foreigners is Huairou town or a Mutianyu-village guesthouse for early access to the cable car, or central Beijing if you prefer a full-service hotel and a guided day trip. I stayed in Huairou in 2022 and reached the wall before the bus crowds.
